Samsung launches SmartThings home monitoring kit for residential market

US – Samsung has just launched the SmartThings Home Monitoring Kit, a DIY home security solution that can monitor, control and secure a home from just about anywhere.

Similar to the SwannOne, this kit centres around a hub and allows individuals customize the system with products they want to use.

The SmartThings Hub can connect to smart sensors, lights, locks, cameras, and more. To get the system started the kit also includes a Motion Sensor, an Outlet to control lights and small appliances, and two multipurpose sensors. Those sensors can keep tabs on anything that opens and closes, including doors, windows, cabinets, and/or the garage.

To tap into this DIY home securihis ty solution, buyers will also need the SmartThings app, which is free for iOS and Android devices. The app will walk you through the setup process, as well as send out alerts and take action when there’s motion or other out-of-the-ordinary activity. The app even allows you to arm and disarm the system remotely.

The kit is also scalable, so it can easily add locks, alarms, and more. It also works with compatible cameras, such as the Samsung SmartCam HD Pro. This 1080p camera can deliver a live peek at a property, as well as capture video clips when something unexpected happens.
